Professor Brooks teaches at the University of Toronto and is one of the foremost authorities on Prairie School architecture. He received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University where he began his research on the Prairie School.

This lecture is co-sponsored by the Renaissance Society and the Society of Architectural Historians, Chicago Chapter.

Preservation of Prairie School Houses and Their Interiors (Hanks)

Paul Sprague and David A. Hanks

Location: The Renaissance Society
Admission: free
 
Professor Paul Sprague, Department of Art at the University of Chicago and a leading expert on the Chicago School of Architecture, will speak on the history of the Prairie School.
David A. Hanks, Assistant Curator of American Decorative Arts at the Art Institute of Chicago, will speak on the objects in the exhibition and the general state of preservation of Prairie School houses and their interiors.

Bus Tour


Admission: $5.00
 
A bus tour of Prairie School houses will be led by Mr. Paul Sprague and will include houses in Evanston, Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, and Glencoe. We will be able to visit the interiors of four houses. Students from Professor Sprague's Continuing Education course on Prairie School Architecture will also be along on the tour. You are invited to bring you own picnic lunch. The bus will leave from Hyde Park at 9:15 a.m., from the south side of the Coop shopping center.
