Welcome to The Renaissance Society's Online Archive
As a non-collecting institution, The Society offers a lasting contribution to art history through the documentation of its exhibitions and programs. Over the course of its more than ninety-year history, The Society has explored the development of contemporary art and ideas through every major avant-garde movement.
In the last few years, we have been developing an online archive to provide wider public access to The Societys rich exhibition history since its founding in 1915. This project is still underway, but already thousands of archival items are available online, including images, essays, publication descriptions, and audio-visual clips of educational programs.
Visitors can search the site in two ways: fast and easy for simple searches, or deep and thorough for advanced. Visitors can view exhibitions chronologically by clicking here.
The Societys online archive will continue to be expanded with more historical archives and more audio-visual downloads. This project has been supported through generous grants from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation.
