Northwest Coast Indian Art

This exhibition presents the earliest American Art through the medium of the newest American display technique, assembled over a period of two years by the Washington State W.P.A. Art Program.

Weapons, dance ornaments, textiles, ceremonial objects, headdresses, various utensils, architectural details and so forth, in originals, photographs and renditions are mounted on panels in a manner designed to give a comprehensive picture of the art forms of the Indians of this region, with their social and geographical background.

Hooked rugs by modern artists will show how these forms may be utilized as a background for contemporary design.

Mr. Fay-Cooper Cole will give a gallery talk at the opening tea, Sunday, November 1, at 3:30 o'clock.
