"And every woman will be a walking synthesis of the universe"
April 30 – June 11, 2006

detail, 2006

Perret (Switzerland, living in Berlin) will create the latest in a series of installations based on her ongoing project The Crystal Frontier. A fictional account of women starting their own commune in a desert, The Crystal Frontier functions as a scenario Perret uses to investigate activist communities of the past and their utopian credos and designs. Perret uses the histories of radicalism not to relive the moment, but to generate new objects that document what did not happen and did not materialize in the earlier movements. These objects incorporate a range of materials (posters, ceramics, barebones minimalist structures, even an organic rabbit farm) located in dissent aesthetics of historic utopian groups. This is Perret's first exhibtion in the Midwest. The Society plans to co-publish the entire text to date of The Crystal Frontier with the Bonnefanten Museum in Maastricht.
