One of Deutsche Bank's main concerns in its art activities is to encourage people to engage with different cultures and social realities. Particularly in this respect, Yto Barrada is an excellent choice as Artist of the Year 2011. Her photographs and publications revolve around the specific situation of the city in which she lives and works, Tangier. Situated on the Strait of Gibraltar, the city of Tangier forms an interface between Arab, African, and European cultures. Barrada's "snapshots" are analytical and poetic at once.

This book is published by Deutsche Bank AG, Frankfurt am Main.
