  Essay by Reiner Speck
Text in German and English

"?each and every experience of seeing pictures causes us to delve down into the unknown depths of our own selves and sends us off to rummage in our libraries." -Reiner Speck

In Stations of the Cross, Forg presents one of aesthetics' odder coincidences: the canonical symbol of Catholicism is imprinted within the canonical construct of Modernism - the grid. In this series of 14 bronze reliefs and 54 monotypes, Forg has performed a kind of ritualistic devotion to this primary form, offering his sublime visions of its infinite possibilities. This catalogue presents the entire Stations of the Cross series in richly detailed reproductions, as well as an open letter to Forg from Reiner Speck in which he reflects upon the impossibility of finding words to describe the compelling beauty of this work.
