Information Withheld, 1983
28.5 min., color, stereo

Shot in Egypt, Chile and New York, Information Withheld compares signs in everyday life which are supposed to convey information instantly and clearly, such as road signs, to signification tin the fine arts, as in classical painting, which resonates with a multiplicity of meanings and ambiguous constructions. Extended segments of landscape are rapidly intercut with illustrations of sign usage to give the work a lush visual and temporal texture.
