Friends of the Gamelan

Location: The Renaissance Society
Admission: free

Friends of the Gamelan certainly aren't strangers to the University of Chicago. They rehearse regularly at Rockefeller Chapel where they also perfom on occasion. We are pleased to lure away a small group of these performers for a concert of gadon style gamelan. Gadon hails from Java and features the form's softer instruments, notably the rebab, a string instrument of Islamic origin.
