Dennis Gonzalez Yells At Eels is a jazz group led by the renowned Dallas trumpeter who has performed over the past 30 years with the masters of modern jazz: Cecil Taylor, Henry Grimes, Max Roach, Roy Hargrove, Malachi Favors, Frank Lowe, Charles Brackeen, and others too numerous to list. After recording a series of stunning, stellar dates for Silkheart Records in the 80s and 90s, he left the world of music for five long years. He returned to jazz in 1999 to form this group at the urging of his sons, Aaron, who plays bass in Yells At Eels, and Stefan, who drums for the trio. The group has played with special guests Oliver Lake, Douglas Ewart, Alvin Fielder, Assif Tsahar, Ernest Dawkins, Sabir Mateen and others. This tour, they are playing as Yells At Eels, and as Banda de Brujos, a group dedicated to Mariachi, Tejano, and Norte music. In their seven years of existence, they have played all over North America and Europe, and have released four CDs, all internationally acclaimed for their forward looking music. They are joined on this tour by special guest, Austin, Texas, saxophonist Carl Smith.
